Research and Development Divisions
There are four research divisions and one laboratory in the Research and Development Divisions of the Center.
Research Division on Information Network Systems. Director: Prof. Hideaki Sone Research Division on Academic Information. Director: Prof. Tetsuo Kinoshita
Research and development activities in the division are related to service of campus networking infrastructure and improvement of advanced information network environment.
Major research fields are electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), electromagnetic information leakage, information security, and network management.
This division conducts the research and development of both the technologies for creating / accumulating / managing multimedia data and the advanced information environment for utilizing academic information resources.
Moreover, the studies on novel intelligent systems based on cooperative distributed information entities are carried out in this division to support various human activities over the global distributed environment.
Research Division on Supercomputing Systems. Director: Prof. Hiroaki Kobayashi Research Division on Advanced Information Technology. Director: Prof. Makoto Yoshizawa
The faculty of research division on supercomputing systems is involved in research on high-performance supercomputing systems and their applications. Targeted areas range from the key components of supercomputing systems, network systems, task schedulers, and compilers, to high-performance algorithm design based on vector and parallel processing models.
Our laboratory has proposed cyber-health monitoring whose purpose is to accelerate innovations of intelligent health monitoring systems by applying synergetic effects of advanced information and communication technology. We aim at developing distributed sensor systems for health maintenance, estimation algorithm of physical condition, control and monitoring systems of in vivo medical units, virtual reality systems for rehabilitation, and medical image diagnostic systems.
Telemedicine via mobile communication technology.
Cyberscience Infrastructure Laboratory.
The CSI laboratory aims at developing Campus Ubiquitous Network based on the Authentication/Authorization Platform of the Japan's CyberScience Infrastructure.
For the Japanese Federation GakuNin project by National Institute of Informatics and the universities in Japan, we have been in charge of R&D on convenient and secure Campus Ubiquitous Network, based on "eduroam" the world-wideresearch and educational Wi-Fi roaming system.
